I love cherry blossoms. But you know what I love more than cherry blossoms? Running underneath canopies of cherry blossoms! Some of the cherry blossom trees in Central Park are in full bloom right now and it's starting to get pretty gorgeous. A lot of the other trees are budding, too. It will be a marvelous run when more of the trees start to bloom.
I envy the runners in DC, where the cherry blossoms are exploding right now. The Cherry Blossom 10-mile run is happening this weekend and I'm sure it'll be wonderful. Must be part of that next year!
As for me in the here and now ... I actually signed up for my very first race! On May 8, a bunch of friends and I are running the Newport 10K in New Jersey. I'm sure I'll be such a slowpoke, but my only goal is to make it without passing out, which is realistic I think.
In other news, ING New York Marathon Lottery is being shown live online tomorrow at noon! Tomorrow, I'll find out whether I'm lucky enough to run one of the most sought after marathons in the world ... crossing fingers, legs, eyes and toes that I'll get picked!
Ok, off to replenish burned calories with a Vietnamese food sesh. Ciao!
